My name is Jurjen Groendijk, born in The Netherlands in 1979.
I am a self-taught photographer whose journey into photography began in the year 2000 during a college year in England. Equipped with a compact camera, I captured countless moments that ignited my passion for photography. Quickly transitioning to a SLR camera, I found myself immersed in the world of photography.
My work spans various subjects, aiming to blend reality with imagination and emotion.
Through intuitive editing techniques, rooted in the interplay of shapes, light, structures, and shadows, I enrich and influence my images. Experimenting with diverse styles and techniques allows me to create new and captivating visuals that invite viewers to freely interpret and associate.
Describing most of my photography as “evocative realism," I aim to capture the essence of a scene or subject while infusing it with a mood or feeling that transcends the visible. This approach invites viewers to engage with both the tangible and intangible aspects of the image, evoking different responses and stories per individual.
Whether capturing the vibrant colours of nature or the intricate details of everyday objects, I continuously seek to push the boundaries of creativity and challenge perceptions through my lens.
